Description
The Stamford Arms is a public house built in the mid-18th century, with 19th-century additions. It is constructed from squared rubble and dressed stone, topped with a slate roof and featuring a brick chimney stack. The building has a double-depth, two-bay, three-storey design, with an adjoining barn on the left and a one-bay extension from the 19th century on the right. At the rear, there are lean-tos and a small brick extension.
The original house features a central door with a square-cut surround and has three and four-light flat-faced mullion windows on each floor, which are recessed on the ground and first floors. The barn includes a segmental-arched cart door and a square-cut door surround to the left, both of which are now blocked. The 19th-century pub facade added to the right has a central door, four windows with wedge lintels and stone sills, fitted with 20th-century casements, and is topped with a hipped roof.
