Description
Lockside is a lock keeper's house, originally built as a canal agent's house, possibly in the 1790s. It is constructed of Flemish bond brick and features a slate roof. The building has two bays and two storeys, with later additions at the rear. The front elevation is symmetrical, with a 20th-century porch that conceals a central door adorned with a fanlight and keystone. There are two windows on each floor, which have wedge lintels, stone sills, and 20th-century casements. A central blind recess is located at the first-floor level, and gable chimney stacks are present. The rear of the building features sash windows. Lockside is included for its group value.
