Description

Two houses, originally one, were built in the late 18th century. They are located on Fairfield Square, Droylsden. The construction uses Flemish bond brickwork under a slate roof. The houses are arranged with a double-depth plan, encompassing a total of five bays across two storeys, with lower, single-bay wings set back on either side.

The symmetrical front elevation features a projecting stone plinth and an eaves cornice. The paired central entrances now have late 19th-century 4-panel doors, overlights, and stone surrounds, replacing an earlier pedimented single door, a feature visible at number 6 Fairfield Square. Four ground floor and five first floor windows each have stone sills, flat brick arches, and sashes from which the glazing bars have been removed. The outer bays each feature a paired sash window on the ground floor and a four-light casement window on the first floor. Gable chimney stacks are present.
