Description
The former packet boathouse, built in 1833, is located adjacent to bridge number 16 on the Manchester and Ashton-under-Lyne Canal in Droylsden. This long building, constructed of hammer-dressed stone and topped with a slate roof, was designed to accommodate one boat. It features a boat hole at one end, which has a semi-circular head beneath a coped gable with kneelers and a datestone. The side elevation includes a door and two window openings, all with stone lintels and sills.
