Description
The premises at 81 and 83 Upper Hibbert Lane are a house, now divided into two cottages. The building dates to 1686, as indicated by the inscription "IBK 1686" on the door lintel. It is constructed of dressed stone with a roof of graduated stone slates. The original design was a three-unit, two-storey configuration, with a rear wing and a later lean-to addition against the left gable. Doors are located in the second and third bays, each framed by an ovolo-moulding. Bays one and three feature three-light, double-chamfered stone mullion windows with hoodmoulds on both floors. The window in bay two is a four-light version, also on both floors; all windows contain leaded lights. A ridge chimney stack sits between bays two and three. The mullions have been removed from the rear windows.
