Description
The building comprises two houses, known as Peers Cottages, dating to 1694, as indicated by a datestone. It is constructed of coursed rubble with a graduated stone slate roof. The cottages are arranged in a single depth, with five bays, two storeys, and a baffle entry. Stone quoins are present. Bay 1 appears to be a later addition. A door is located in bay 2, and another in bay 3, which features a moulded stone lintel and an inscribed stone reading "Peers Swindels purchest this land and built this house in the yeare 1694". The original main house section, located in bay 4, originally had four-light chamfered mullion windows on each floor; the upper windows were set within a coped gable with kneelers. The other windows, including those on the gable, have flat-faced mullions, though most date to the 20th century. Two brick ridge chimney stacks are visible. Internally, there are timber-framed partitions and chamfered beams with run-out stops.
