Description
Canal Bridge, Number 23 by Little Woodend is a canal bridge built around 1800 by B. Outram for the Peak Forest Canal Company. It is constructed from coursed, squared sandstone rubble with sandstone dressings. The bridge features a single elliptical arch and has a projecting course at road level. The plain parapets continue as four curving wing walls that end in square pilasters. Both the walls and the parapet have rounded coping. This bridge is very similar to Bridge Number 26, which carries Redhouse Lane.
