Description

Barker Cottage is a house that has been converted into a garage. It dates from the late 18th century and is constructed of coursed rubble with a stone slate roof and brick stacks. The building has three bays and is single-depth with two storeys. It features two and three-light casement windows, all with square-cut stone lintels, jambs, and sills. This cottage is notable as the birthplace of Sir Ernest Barker, a classicist, historian, and educationalist, who lived from 1874 to 1960.
