Description

Moseley Old Hall is a house built in 1666 for the Moseley family. It features a stone plinth and is constructed in a box-framed style with a 20th-century tiled roof and brick stacks. The building has a baffle-entry plan with projecting crosswings and consists of two storeys. The front has three bays, each with a 20th-century three-light window on the ground floor. To the left of the second bay, there is a pitched roof porch with an ovolo-moulded surround and door frame, along with the original studded battened door and hinges. The first floor has seven, seven, and four-light ovolo-moulded windows, which are likely restored but follow the original pattern. The crosswing gables display decorative framing. The rear has three gables and four bays, featuring 19th-century ovolo-moulded windows with two, four, five, and six lights, some of which include transoms. There are curved diagonal braces visible only at the rear, and leaded windows throughout the house.

Inside, there is a partially repaired splat-baluster staircase at the rear, an inglenook fireplace with an ovolo-moulded bressumer, and similarly moulded beams with stepped stops in the house-part. Batten doors with original hinges are found throughout. Overall, Moseley Old Hall is a well-preserved house that retains most of its original features and has not been significantly altered by later restorations.
