Description
The Central Railway Viaduct is a railway viaduct built in 1865, designed by engineer Sturges Meek for the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway. It features cast-iron columns that support a later steel deck, along with a cast-iron parapet. The structure is carried by Doric columns and includes a plain panelled parapet and lateral I-section steel beams. The viaduct was constructed to extend the railway line to Manchester Victoria.
