Description

A row of four houses, built around 1907, forming a distinctive landmark on The Green. The houses are constructed of rendered brick with a clay tile roof and comprise four bays spread over two storeys. The architectural style is a domestic revival, incorporating elements reminiscent of the work of Voysey. Each house originally featured a front door, though replacements have been introduced in number 148. The first floor juts out over battered buttresses, which support three-light square bay windows. A 20th-century porch is present at number 146. The first floor features four three-light mullion and transom windows, alongside smaller two-light windows within the gables; all windows have glazing bars. Two rendered and battered chimney stacks are visible. The buildings represent a notable example of the garden suburb movement, arising during a period of early industrial decline.
