Description

153 and 154 Syke Road are two cottages built around 1810. They are constructed from watershot stone and feature a slate roof. Each cottage is two stories tall and consists of two rooms deep and two rooms wide. The left cottage, number 154, has a 20th-century lean-to garage attached to its gable and a door canopy. Both cottages have a central doorway with square-cut monolithic jambs and sills. The ground floor has flat-faced mullioned windows with one and two lights, while the first floor features "weaver's windows" with two, three, and four lights, which were likely originally designed with more lights. These cottages are said to have originally been back-to-back. They are included for their group value.
