Description

The Tithe Barn is a house and adjoining barn, believed to be a tithe barn, likely dating from the mid-17th century, with an 18th-century barn and 20th-century alterations. The structure is made of hammer-dressed stone, mostly rendered, and features graduated stone slate and slate roofs. The house is a three-unit, two-storey building with a two-storey porch and barn/stable wings on the right, which have been partly converted for domestic use.

The two-storey porch has a moulded door surround with an obtuse-angled lintel, a first-floor window with a two-light chamfered mullion (the mullion has been removed) featuring arched lights, and a coped gable with kneelers and a ball finial. All windows have been altered from their original designs, which included chamfered and double-chamfered mullions. The building has a ridge chimney stack, and the rear and barn have similarly altered and 20th-century window openings.

Inside, there are beams with stepped stops, and a timber-framed crosswall that includes a door with a shaped lintel. The barn features king-post roof trusses.
