Description
Causeway Sett is a farmhouse located on Huddersfield Road in Delph, dating from the mid to late 18th century, with 20th-century additions. The building is constructed from hammer-dressed watershot stone and features a slate roof. It consists of three bays and two storeys, with a 20th-century garage on the left, a porch on the right, and an extension at the rear. The corners of the building are defined by quoins.
The first bay, added in the later 18th century, includes 6 and 3-light recessed cavetto-moulded mullion windows and a blocked taking-in door. The ground floor of the second bay has a 4-light double-chamfered cavetto-moulded mullion window, while the third bay has a window that currently lacks mullions. The first floor was raised in the late 18th century, adding a 6-light recessed flat-faced stone mullion window to the second bay and a window in the third bay that is now missing its mullions. The farmhouse features gable chimney stacks and an obtuse-angled lintel above a door at the rear, which has been incorporated into the extension. Inside, there is an 18th-century fire surround with a moulded hood.
