Description
No. 12 Saint Mary's Gate is a house that has been converted into a shop, dating from the late 18th century. It is constructed of hammer-dressed watershot stone and features a graduated stone slate roof. The building has one bay and three storeys. A door has been inserted on the left side. There is a five-light recessed flat-faced stone mullion window on both the ground and first floors, and a six-light window with a king mullion on the second floor. Gable chimney stacks are present, along with one and two-light gable windows, some of which are blocked. The rear of the building includes a door with a square-cut surround on the right, a 20th-century window on the left, and a two-light window with the mullion removed in between. The first and second floors also have five-light windows similar to those on the front, as well as a blocked taking-in door.
