Description

Moorgate Bridge is a roving bridge over the Huddersfield Narrow Canal in Saddleworth, dating from the early 19th century. It was probably designed by Benjamin Outram. The bridge is constructed of hammer-dressed coursed stone and features a semi-elliptical arch made of voussoirs. There is a slightly protruding band at the level of the parapet, which is topped with half-round copings. The towside wingwalls slope down to path level on both the north and south approaches, while the offside continuation of the parapet runs alongside the road.
