Description
Nos. 7 and 9 on Stone Breaks Road are two houses dating from 1687, as indicated by the inscription "IWI 1687" on the door lintel, although they have undergone alterations and additions over the years. The houses are constructed from hammer-dressed watershot stone and feature a graduated stone slate roof. They consist of 2 bays and 2 storeys, with a wing at the rear.
The front façade includes a projecting plinth and rough quoins. The central door has a chamfered surround and a dated lintel. To the left of the door is a plain window opening, while to the right is a 4-light recessed flat-faced mullion window. On the first floor, there are 3 and 5-light windows, similar in style to those below. The houses have gable chimney stacks and two 2-light gable windows, one of which is blocked. At the rear, there is a 1-light double-chamfered window, and the rear range features 3-light recessed flat-faced mullion windows on each floor, along with other altered window and door openings.
