Description

Well Croft and Well Croft House are two houses, believed to date from 1768, although they were built in two phases, with significant 20th-century additions to their gables. The houses are constructed of hammer-dressed watershot stone and have a graduated stone slate roof. The original main house was a double-depth, three-storey building of one bay, to which a second bay was added in the late 18th century. The earlier house, on the eastern side, has quoins and recessed flat-faced stone mullion windows with 6, 7, and 6 lights. The other house features mullion windows with 4 and 5 lights. The building has kneelers and a gable chimney stack. The roadside elevation includes a small lean-to, three 3-light windows, a 5-light window, and a blocked taking-in door. The 20th-century extensions obscure the gables. The buildings are included on the list for their group value.
