Description

This is a terrace of four houses located on Lane Head Road. They were built in the late 18th century and originally served as homes for weavers. The houses are constructed of roughly coursed and squared stone, with stone-flagged roofs. Each house has a double-depth plan and three storeys. Number 125 has a doorway in the gable wall; the original front entrance has been blocked. It retains a three-light mullioned window on the ground and first floors. Number 127 has a doorway to the left and mullioned windows – three lights on the ground floor and four lights on the first floor. Numbers 127 and 129 share a long, eleven-light attic window which was formerly a weavers’ workshop. Number 129 has a doorway in a half-gabled porch to the right, with a four-light mullioned window beside it on each floor. Number 131 features an entrance within a single-storey wash-house or porch which projects beyond the gable wall. The former four-light mullioned windows on each floor of the other houses have been replaced with two-light casements, although the original mullion architraves remain. Each house has end wall stacks.
