Description

The Brunswick Hotel is an early 19th-century building that has been altered and now functions as a public house. It includes two townhouses, Nos. 2 and 4 Paton Street, which extend to the rear. The structure features scored stucco on brick with slate roofs and is arranged in an L-plan, consisting of a double-depth, double-fronted main range with a back extension.

The hotel stands three storeys high with cellars and has a symmetrical façade with four windows—two on each side of a central doorway. The entrance, which is accessed by two steps, features an open-pedimented Tuscan pilaster doorcase and a blocked fanlight above. Each side of the doorway has a pair of windows on each floor, all with raised sills and moulded architraves. The ground floor windows have multi-pane glazing, while the upper windows are sashed without glazing bars. A tall chimney is located at the left gable.

The left return wall has a similar doorway that has been altered to serve as a window, along with similar windows—three on the ground and first floors and two on the second floor. Nos. 2 and 4 Paton Street each have similar doorways and window arrangements, with three and two windows respectively. No. 2 Paton Street is now incorporated with the Brunswick Hotel. The interior has been altered as well. The building forms a group with No. 107 Piccadilly, which is attached to its right side but differs in period, type, and scale, being twice the height.
