Description

The Knowsley Hotel is a building that has been converted into a public house and shop. It was constructed in the mid to late 19th century and has undergone alterations. The structure is made of red brick with sandstone quoins and dressings, and its roof is concealed. It has a rectangular plan and is situated on a corner site, featuring three storeys above cellars.

No. 95 has five symmetrical bays, with a plinth, sill-bands, a bracketed cornice, and a parapet. The ground floor includes a central round-headed doorway with an Ionic pilastered stone surround and a modillion cornice, along with altered doors and a plain fanlight. There are elliptical-headed windows with panelled aprons, set-in shafts, moulded heads, and recessed altered glazing. The upper floors feature 4-pane sashed windows; the first floor has elliptical-headed windows linked by an impost band, while the second floor has square-headed windows, including tripartite windows in the center.

No. 97, located to the right, has a doorway on the right side and windows that match those of No. 95, although all the glazing has been altered. The left return wall of No. 95 is similar to the front, with a centrally located doorway.
