Description
Sillinghurst Farmhouse dates back to around 1600 but was likely rebuilt around 1700. The building is constructed of coursed rubble and stands two storeys tall in a double pile configuration. It features two mullioned windows; the left window has three lights, while the right window has four lights. There is an off-centre doorway, and to the right, there is another blocked doorway with a large lintel above it. A string course runs across the front of the farmhouse, positioned above the ground floor windows. The roof is made of stone slabs. Additional mullioned windows, some with drip moulds, can be found on the left gable end and at the rear of the building. The farmhouse is marked as "Silen Hurst" on a map from 1847 and may have originally been two cottages.
