Includes: The Mews No.2: The Mansion LINCOLN ROAD. Mansion, now in use as hotel. c1830. Ashlar. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys, asymmetrical plan comprising 3 main parallel ranges, with central gabled wing on entrance front, and single storey porch in angle of wing. The entrance front has central gable has 4-light mullioned and transomed window to ground floor, with foiled lights and stained glass. 3-light mullioned and transomed oriel window above. 2-light wood mullioned window with Gothic arched lights and margin lights over the porch. Gothic arched entrance to porch with traceried overlight with stained glass. Brass plates either side of doorway record its former name, 'The Halliwell Lodge Hotel'. Arched lights with margin lights to mullioned and transomed window to left of central gable. The garden front has 2 principal gables, with 2 further gables beyond possibly a later phase. Wide gabled return of entrance front has canted bay window to ground floor with embattled parapet and 3-light mullioned and transomed sash window above. Cusped bargeboards. Gable beyond has paired sash windows to ground floor and oriel window above. Further gables beyond with single storey service buildings etc at ground floor. Eastern return elevation comprises 3 stepped gables, with shallow rectangular bay window in wide gable of entrance range, and storey porch in angle with rear range. The 2 rear ranges are possibly a slightly later phase and have simpler detailing. Various axial stacks, some octagonal. INTERIOR: retains polychrome tiled floor in entrance hall, and original staircase with cusped cast-iron rails.
