Description
A terrace of four houses at 19-25 Silverwell Street, dating from the early 19th century and now used as offices. The buildings are constructed of brick with a slate roof. The terrace is divided by a wide, segmentally arched carriage entry, with No. 19 to the left, comprising a four-window range and a two-unit plan with an entrance to the left. The doorway has sidelights set in a wide segmental archway with geometric tracery to the fanlight. There are narrow windows flanking the door, and two sash windows to the right. The upper windows are also sashes with 12 and 16 panes. All windows have flat arched heads and painted stone sills. To the right of the archway, Nos. 21-25 have been amalgamated into a single unit, with a modern doorway located to the right. A doorway with a traceried fanlight has been converted into a window, and the remaining windows are 2-pane sashes with wedge lintels. A continuous stone sill band runs along the first floor. A moulded wood eaves cornice is present, except in No. 25. End wall stacks are visible, along with ornamental cast-iron rainwater heads. The interior of the buildings was not inspected.
