Description
No 13 Market Place is a 18th-century building that stands at right angles and adjoins No 12. It has three storeys and is constructed of old brick. The classical doorway is located to the left and features pilasters, along with a frieze that includes triglyphs and metopes. To the right, there is a small modern shop window and a new door, as well as a 12-paned sash window. A plaque commemorates William Beamont, Warrington's first mayor, who practiced as a solicitor in this building from 1797 to 1880. The first floor has two 16-paned sash windows, and there are another two on the second floor, although they are not arranged symmetrically. All the listed buildings in the Market Place form a group with the side facade of Ye Olde Barley Mow Public House located on Market Street.
