Description
Penketh Hall is a house built in 1757, as indicated by a former internal datemark. The front is made of white-rendered brick and features a grey slate roof with flush gable chimneys. The rear is constructed from brown brick and has flush stone quoins. There are brown brick extensions at each end and to the rear, likely dating from the late Georgian period. The main block is two storeys high and has five symmetrical windows, which are 4-pane horned sashes, probably from around 1860. The door has been altered and is set in a round-arched opening, with stone keystones and cills.
Inside, the hall has painted doors made of very wide boards, some of which are likely oak, and features 18th-century tapered long hinges. There is a dogleg stair with a square newel and covered balusters, which are said to be turned. The rear rooms have heavy oak beams with stopped ovolo moulds.
