Description
The Cross Keys Public House is an ornate Victorian building located on Buttermarket Street. It is constructed of brick with stone dressings and features two storeys along with two half-dormers that have pyramid roofs above the eaves. The design mainly reflects Gothic style, characterized by steeply-pointed arches and paired windows with narrow sashes. The ground floor windows and doorway are adorned with ornamented spandrels, and there is an ornamented brick cornice. Iron pinnacles decorate the gables. The Cross Keys Public House is part of a group that includes Nos 8 to 84 (even), the Roman Catholic Church of St Mary, the Trustee Savings Bank, and No 95, all contributing to the historical context of the area.
