Description
Nos. 2 (Bank House) and 4 (Dial House) are a pair of 18th-century houses. They are constructed in brick with a stone base, and feature a stone cornice at the eaves. Each house has a doorway leading up steps, with a segmental-headed fanlight above (No. 2’s fanlight is glazed with bars). The doorways are set within wooden porches consisting of panelled pilasters, a frieze, and a cornice. One sash window is present on each floor, with stone sills and lintels. A date stone indicates 1817. Nos. 2 to 6 (even) form a group with the Cross Keys Public House, Nos. 80 to 84 (even), the Roman Catholic Church of St Mary, the Trustee Savings Bank, and No. 95, Buttermarket Street.
