Description
Wallspit is a house built in 1791, featuring alterations and additions. It is constructed of brown brick with a stone plinth, rusticated quoins, and a bracket cornice at the front. The roof is made of stone-slate and has flush chimneys at the gables. The symmetrical front has three storeys and three windows, with a blocked opening painted to resemble a window at the centre of the third storey. The lower storeys have recessed 16-pane sash windows under flat gauged-brick arches, while the third storey has 8-pane sashes located beneath the cornice. A round arched rusticated surround frames the recessed porch, which contains a 6-panel door topped by a looped radical-bar fanlight. Above the entrance is an oval plaque inscribed with "J J & M 1791." Outbuildings at the rear are not included in the listing.
