Description
Stretton House is a house built in 1788, with alterations and additions made to the north between 1800 and 1830, and further changes around 1945. It is constructed of brown brick in Flemish bond on both the current and former fronts. The present front, which faces the road, is two storeys high and features the gable of the original 1788 house, a central section from around 1800, and a gabled section on the left from about 1830. The gables, which have open pediments, project from the main structure. The windows are varied, including Yorkshire lights and paired sashes, and there is a six-panel door with a radial-bar fanlight above it. The former front also has two storeys and two windows, but the lower windows have been altered. The upper section features two three-light windows, each containing a six-pane sash. A central datestone marked "O J-M 1788" (for Oakley) is present, along with an ogee wooden gutter and flush gable chimneys.
Inside, the house has doors with six fielded panels on H hinges, as well as doors made of broad boards.
