Description
School Farm Farmhouse is an early 17th century farmhouse that was rewalled around 1800. It is constructed of brick and features a grey slate roof. An oak wallplate from the original timber frame can still be seen under the front eaves. The building is L-shaped and has one and a half storeys, with a door and three windows on the front and two windows on the left side. There are brick chimneys on the left gable, the front ridge, and the ridge of the left wing. The lower storey has small wood casement windows set under skewback arches. A 19th-century porch with a tiled gabled roof is supported by brackets.
Inside, the parlour to the right of the entrance has an ingle nook with a hood-beam that is supported on a shaped stone pier with carved patterns. The interior features many large, chamfered oak beams, and remnants of the former oak frame can be seen at the ground floor ceiling. There are oak purlins and doors made of three wide boards, including one 17th-century oak door with small panels located upstairs.
