Description

The Church of All Saints is a parish church that was rebuilt in 1871 by the architectural firm Austin and Paley, while retaining its 16th-century tower. It is constructed of red sandstone and features a slate roof. The church has a five-bay nave designed in the perpendicular style, with aisles on either side and a tower located at the west end of the nave. There are entrances opposite each other in the north and south aisles. The tower is adorned with angle buttresses, a large west window in the perpendicular style, louvred windows on all sides at the bell stage, gargoyles, and crenellations. The windows throughout the church are generally in the perpendicular style and include stained glass.

Inside, the chancel is flanked by a one-bay organ chamber and a two-bay memorial chapel. Plain octagonal columns support the aisle arcades. The chancel features elaborately carved cambered collar trusses with wall brackets, while the nave has similar trusses with level collars. The roof of the south aisle is supported by simple hammer beam trusses. Notable interior elements include a Jacobean pulpit, 19th-century oak screens with brattishing that enclose the chapel, choir stalls with poppyheads, and carved bench ends in the nave. There are quality marble wall memorials in the nave and an elaborately carved Gothic oak cover over the stone font.
