Description
This is a group of 18 chest tombs located approximately 2 meters from the southeast corner of the Church of St Nicholas in Neston. They date from 1740 to 1783 and are made of red Bunter sandstone. The tombs feature center and end fluted muntins that frame raised and fielded panels, with two panels on each side. The end panels are decorated with carvings of skull and crossbones, hourglass, or angel motifs. The top slabs are inscribed and have moulded overhanging edges, although the dates and names are largely indecipherable. This group of tombs is significant within the churchyard.
