Description
Ashton Cross Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the early 17th century, with alterations and additions primarily made in the late 19th century. The building is timber-framed, partly resting on a stone plinth, with brick nogging and some sections limewashed. It features brick wings on the left side and at the rear, and has a raised tile roof and ridge, which was formerly thatched. The farmhouse is two storeys tall, including a central hipped dormer, and has added one-storey wings. It consists of three bays, with two and three-light iron and timber casements, one of which is set under an arched brick head. There is an added timber-framed porch with a hipped tile roof on the right side of the central bay, which contains a ledge and batten door. The building has replaced brick stacks located midway along the ridge and at the rear. The side wing and part of the main block have paintwork that simulates timber-framing. Inside, there are chamfered beams and a replaced stair.
