Description
Larkton House is a farmhouse dating from the late 18th century, featuring an additional wing at the rear and various alterations. The building is constructed of painted stone and has a slate roof with a tile ridge and stone gable end stacks. Originally designed in a T shape, it stands two storeys high with attics and consists of three bays. The facade is symmetrical, highlighted by a small central pediment and a frieze band beneath the eaves. The windows are slightly recessed 6-pane sashes with stone cills and heads, and there is an added bay window. The entrance features a porch supported by stone Doric columns that support a timber pediment adorned with modillions. The broad 4-panel door is set within a recessed panelled doorcase and is topped by a 2-pane fanlight. The rear wing includes 3-light timber casements, some of which have been renewed. Additionally, there is a brick wing at the back with timber casements, some featuring small panels, tile cills, and arched brick heads. Inside, the house boasts broad 6-panel doors and an open string stair.
