Description
The Shippons at Bank Farm are a pair of farm buildings, originally designed as cross shippons, dating from around the 1730s. They have been altered and extended at the right-hand end. The buildings are constructed of red-brown brick, with some lower courses made of dressed stone and stone dressings. There are stone plinths at the rear and a pantile roof. The long range of buildings features a left-hand bay built in stone up to window height, with brick above. The doorways have rounded jambs made of dressed stone or brick, and the brickwork includes baskethead doorways and tumbling at the gables. The gable ends are finished with brick parapets that have stone coping and stone kneelers. Although the roof space is not accessible, it is reported to have a king post truss construction.
