Description
Hampton Post is a house, with a core dating back to approximately 1665 or earlier, significantly altered since its original construction. It is built of brick, with a sandstone section to the height of the first floor, and features pebbledash on the upper floors. The roof is slate, originally graded slate. The house is two storeys high, with a partial cellar, and has three bays, with a later 1½-storey lean-to bay added to the left. The layout is a T-shape, with a rear wing rebuilt above the first floor in the 19th century. The windows are metal casements within timber frames, featuring tile sills and arched brick lintels. The doorway has been altered and a porch added. The front and right-hand side of the building feature pebbledashed upper floors. Brick stacks are visible on the central ridge and at the gable ends. The gable parapets have stone coping and kneelers.
Inside, the house features panelled doors, stop-chamfered spine beams with run-out stops, reused timbers, an oak staircase, and an inglenook.
