Description
The Round House is an early 19th-century farmhouse that incorporates a mid-18th-century core and has had additions made to the rear. It is constructed of brown brick with a tiled roof and stands two storeys high, featuring attics and cellars. Originally a square house, it has three windows on the front, which are three-light timber casements with cambered brick heads and tiled sills. Some of the windows have been replaced or altered, and there is a central French window that opens onto sandstone steps leading to the garden. Additionally, some windows on the sides have been partially filled in, covering former blind or blocked openings. There are two dormer casements with tile-hung sides on each side of the roof. The house has a central brick chimney stack with three flues and a dentil course beneath the eaves. Inside, there are broad ledge and batten doors with heavy hinges, some of which feature roll mouldings.
