Description

The Village Lockup, built in 1837, is a former lockup that has been converted into a garage. It is constructed of Flemish bond brickwork featuring pale headers and topped with a pyramidal roof made of graded grey slate. The original doorway has been replaced by projecting garage doors. Above the doors, there are two semicircular barred openings that are stone-cased, positioned above a plain stone band, which is located 2 metres above the floor. The inscription "LOCKUP 1837" is located between these openings.
