Description

Poplar House, along with its former cartshed and stable, dates from the early 19th century. The house is constructed of brown brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with grey slate roofs. It is two storeys high with a three-window front. The front door is made of oak, featuring six raised panels, with the top two panels replaced by glass. It is situated beneath an altered open gabled porch supported by consoles. The lower right-hand sash window retains its original 12 square panes; other windows have been replaced with 4-pane sashes, all set beneath rusticated keystone lintels and stone sills. The gables have stone coping and brick chimney stacks. Attached to the right side of the house is a former cartshed and stable built of irregularly bonded brickwork, featuring a cambered arch over the cart entrance and a loading door leading to the hayloft above. The interior of the house has been altered.
