Description
Chapel House is a house and former chapel dating from the mid 17th century. It is constructed of brown brick in irregular bond on a one-metre plinth made of large red sandstone blocks, topped with a grey slate roof. The building has two storeys plus an attic and is rectangular in shape, facing the street with a shaped gable. The entrance features a semicircular arched doorway made of stone, with moulded square caps and a moulded base to the keystone. There is a dentil band of brick at the first floor level. The small-pane windows on the first and second storeys have been replaced, likely in the 19th century. A small circular window in the gable contains old glass. Inside, there are chamfered oak beams and cupboards with oak doors on H hinges, which are probably from the 17th century. The former chapel room is located at the rear of the building.
