Description

Willaston Mill is a windmill that has been converted into a dwelling, built in 1805. The structure is made of red brick arranged in English Garden Wall bond and has a circular plan. The exterior features a five-stage tapering tower built on a basement. There are lifting doorways that have been fitted with French windows, and the windows themselves are replacement multi-pane casements. The openings are segment arched. The mill retains its boat-shaped cap, along with the sail cross arms, starting wheel, and gantry. Inside, the machinery that once rotated the cap is still present in the upper stage, although the mill had already been adapted for residential use by 1962.
