Description
Holly Bush Cottage is a house dating to the early 17th century, with alterations made in the early 19th century and late 20th century. The structure is partly timber framing with brick nogging and partly washed brick. It has a thatched roof and no chimney. The house is arranged in an L-shape, consisting of a 5-bay front that is brick except for the corner post, brace, and wall plate. The front features four 2-light horizontal sliding sash windows with glazing bars, and a centrally located half-glazed door. Two 20th-century dormers are swept into the thatched roof. The left gable end and the remainder of the house show some restored small timber framing with slightly S-shaped angle bracing. Inside, the interior has been considerably altered, but original ceiling beams remain. The house is included on the list for its group value.
