Description
Church Cottages in Grayrigg are a pair of estate cottages built in 1865 for the 2nd Marquess of Westminster. They are constructed from irregularly coursed dressed red sandstone and feature a Welsh slate roof with triangular stone copings on the kneelers. The cottages have a symmetrical 4-bay front that is 2 stories high. The central two bays, which are under coped gables, have 3-light casements on the lower level and 2-light casements above, both with label moulds. The end bays serve as 1-storey porches with doors that are also topped with label moulds and date plaques. The gable ends contain 20th-century steel casements. The interior has not been inspected. The cottages are listed for their group value.
