Description

The Done Recreation Room is a parish room built in 1636. It is constructed of red English bond brick with an ashlar plinth and quoins, topped with a slate roof. The building has two storeys, with the churchyard front featuring a diamond pattern created by blue headers. On the ground floor, there are two windows with moulded stone surrounds, each containing early 19th-century iron-framed fenestration with three lights. The first floor has two similar windows.

At mezzanine level to the left of the windows, there is a square armorial tablet with strapwork panels supporting an entablature and pediment that displays the date. To the right, also at mezzanine level and positioned between the windows, is another tablet with a moulded border that reads: "This School, erected in 1636/ by Dame Dorothy Done and/endowed by Mrs John Done in 1662/was thoroughly repaired by the/Trustees under the Will of/John Arden Esq decreased in the/Year 1830".

To the right of the main structure is a later stone lean-to, while to the left is another one-storey stone addition featuring arrow-head rustication and a central doorway with an ashlar surround and quirked bead at the inner angle. Above this doorway is a square stone tablet with a coat of arms and pilaster pieces on either side. The building has a ridge chimney at the center, and the left gable end includes a first-floor window with four early 19th-century lights and a moulded stone surround, with close-studding above the gable.
