Description

Rose Cottage is an early 19th-century house located on Manning’s Lane South in Chester. The house is constructed of painted brick with a grey slate roof. It is a two-story, double-fronted building featuring Gothick detailing.

The front of the house, facing the garden, has two casement windows, each containing two six-pane lights with Y-tracery in Tudor-arched openings, finished with hoodmoulds. A simple eaves line and flush gable chimneys are visible. A single-story outshut is located at the right end. The left gable end features a Gothick six-panel door with arched, quatrefoil, and further arched panels. Above the door is an overlight consisting of four arched panes, all with a label above. A leaded window with intersecting tracery is located above the door, alongside a two-light Gothick casement with Y-tracery. A similar one-light leaded casement is positioned to the right, mirroring the ground-floor window.

The rear of the house contains a two-light casement window with six panes to each light, set beneath a label, an outshut, and a stair window with a single leaded light with intersecting tracery. The interior of the property has not been inspected.
