Description
This is a group of eight raised grave slabs located approximately 2 meters from the east gable of the Church of St Nicholas in Neston. Dating from 1783 to 1879, the slabs are made of red Bunter sandstone and feature inscribed top surfaces with moulded or bevelled overhanging edges. The dates and names on the slabs are generally indecipherable. The slabs are raised between 0.5 meters and 0.66 meters above ground level, supported in various ways: one slab rests on six baluster pillars with square caps and bases, another on six square section legs, two slabs on six cylindrical legs, and four slabs on three horizontal lintels. This collection of monuments is a significant feature within the churchyard.
