Description

These are three cottages, built in the later 19th century for Rowland Egerton Warburton. They are located on the south side of High Street in Great Budworth. The cottages are constructed of brown brick and timber framing, with a clay tile roof. The cottages are two storeys high, with a small attic to number 22. Each cottage has one window to each storey. The design is asymmetrical. Each cottage has a boarded door, featuring ornamental hinges and latches characteristic of the Arley estate, set within a pointed brick arch. The door to number 22 is within a brick porch with a lean-to roof, which also has three two-pane round-headed lights on its right side. The lower-level windows have three lights, with wood mullions and projecting top rails fixed on brackets. The bedroom windows are similarly detailed, with three lights; the attic window is two-light. Number 22 has a jettied timber-framed gable facing the front. The brick around the doors and windows has bevelled arrises. The interiors were not inspected. The cottages are included on the list for their group value.
