Description
The Manor House is a house likely largely of the mid-19th century, constructed for Rowland Egerton Warburton. It is built of brown brick in English bond, with a graded grey slate roof. The house has two storeys plus an attic, and consists of three rooms. A corbelled band sits at the first floor level. The rear of the house features a basket-arched gabled porch with a door of six fielded panels. The ground floor has a three-light wood mullioned and transomed casement window to either side of the porch, a similar five-light casement window to the far right, and two three-light windows and one four-light window to the far right. The upper floor has two three-light windows and one four-light window. All window lights on both main storeys consist of a single pane of glass. A recessed brick gabled dormer in the attic has three two-pane lights. There are three hearts formed in raised brickwork on the ground floor, and a raised saltire and two diamonds on the upper floor. Corbelled chimneys are present on each gable end, and a ridge chimney is located to the right of the central room; each chimney has two separated chamfered flues. The interior has been altered, and retains two stop-chamfered oak beams with the rear ends concealed. The building is included on the list for group value.
