Description
No. 21 High Street is a cottage dating from the early 17th century that has been altered over time. It features oak small framing with narrow panels and a clay tile roof. The building is one storey plus an attic, with one window to the right and two windows to the left of the door. It has a sandstone plinth and lacks a cill beam, with some timbers having been renewed. The original boarded door has been replaced, and there are wood-mullioned windows with three 2-pane lights. Above the left window, there is an oak-framed gable dormer of a later 19th-century Arley estate type. A plinthed shaped brick chimney is located on the ridge behind the doorway, with another chimney situated behind the ridge within the framing of the left gable-end, indicating that the roof has been raised. The interior has not been inspected, but an inglenook fireplace is visible behind the lobby entrance, along with chamfered oak beams.
